Honda, are the Worlds largest engine manufacturer and introduced their first 4 stroke outboard back in 1964, since then they have led the way in engineering innovations. In 1997 they were the first to reach 500,000 four stroke outboards and in 1998 produced the world's first 100hp 4 stroke outboard. Honda's reputation for reliable engines isn't just legendary, it’s proven.  Honda has won the National Marine Manufacturers association CSI Award in America for Customer Satisfaction seven years in a row.

Honda 4 strokes require less maintenance and service than 2 strokes thanks to their cleaner, cooler running 4 stroke design. Four strokes are approximately 50% more fuel efficient than typical two strokes. No two stroke oil is needed leading to further savings. 4 strokes are approximately 90% cleaner than typical 2 strokes. Honda outboards have Ultra Low Emissions exceeding the highest CARB 3 Star rating and are considerably quieter than 2 strokes.

With its 1 Litre integral fuel tank, front mounted carrying handle and weighing just 12.2kgs, the Honda 2.3hp is a very compact and easy to use outboard. The fold down tiller handle reduces storage space required. 360 degree steering makes getting our of tight spaces very easy. Throttle tensioner on the twist grip throttle minimizes driver fatigue. Air cooled - so no need to flush in fresh water

Honda 5hp outboard engine

The Honda 5hp outboard at 27kgs is the lightest 5hp 4 stroke on the market and incorporates a front mount carrying handle. Twist grip throttle and forward and reverse gears make this the ideal engine for inflatables or as an auxiliary. Throttle tensioner on the twist grip throttle and swivel bracket design to reduce vibration minimize driver fatigue. Low oil warning system protects the engine from severe damage. 12.5L tote tank. A flush adaptor is available to flush using a direct connection to a hose without muffs.

Honda is the worlds largest engine manufacturer producing around 20 million engines a year. Honda has been an engine technology pioneer since 1948. Honda's advanced Four stroke technology ensures low fuel consumption without compromising performance.

BLAST - Boosted Low Speed Torque engine management technology that provides instant torque at all operating rev's and exceptional hole shot performance.  Honda's Lean burn control increases fuel effiency by allowing combustion to operate on a leaner air/fuel mixture which, at cruising speed, enables the engine to run on 20% less fuel.

Programmed Electronic fuel injection delivers precise amounts of fuel/air to each cylinder resulting in easier starting, instant throttle response and superior fuel efficiency

Lean burn control increases fuel efficiency by allowing combustion to operate on a leaner air/fuel mixture which, at cruising speed, enables the engine to run on 20% less fuel

VTEC - Varaiable Valve Timing system uses a camshaft with three intake cam lobes for each cylinder operating on three rocker arms. The outer two cam lobes are for low rpm operation and operate the intake valves directly via the outer two rocker arms. At low rpm, the centre rocker arm is idling. Its movement is controlled by the lost motions spring. At high rpm, the ecu activates a hydraulic pump that hydraulically locks the outer rocker arms to the centre rocker arm by a synchronizing piston. under  4500 rpm VTEC opens one of the intake valves 5degrees earlier than the other intake valve to create a controlled swirling effect which improves combustion efficiency. At low speed, under 4500rpm cam lobes open and close the intake valves allowing the fuel and air mixture into the combustion chamber. the more conservative intake keeps the fuel/air velocity high for smooth low speed operation and increased torque. Aty high speed, above 4500rpm the ECM activates the VTEC solenoid causing hydraulic pressure to move a synchronising piston which locks the outer intake rocker arms to the center intake rocker arm. The 3 rocker arms are lockedas a single unit and operate off the high lift, long duration cam profile.The mass of high-velocity air is packed into the combustion chamber and produces more power.
